The short version
- We use a small number of cookies, mostly to keep you signed in and your session secure.
- We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles, and we never sell cookie data.
- You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time — but blocking the essential ones stops sign-in from working.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer, phone or tablet when you visit. On your next visit, the site can read it back. Cookies help websites work, remember your preferences and tell the site owner how the site is being used.
This policy explains how DonePay Wallet uses cookies and similar technologies on donepaywallet.com, the DonePay web wallet and our mobile apps. It adds to our Privacy Policy.
Why we use them
- To keep you signed in as you move between screens, so you are not asked to log in on every page.
- To keep your session secure and to detect and prevent fraud.
- To remember your preferences, such as language or display settings.
- To see which features are used and where people get stuck, so we can improve the Service.
The kinds we use
Strictly necessary
These make the Service work. They sign you in, maintain your session, protect against cross-site request forgery and switch on core features. They cannot be turned off in DonePay, because without them the Service does not work.
Functionality
These remember choices you have made — such as your language or interface settings — so you do not have to set them again. Helpful, but not essential.
Analytics and performance
These show us, in aggregate, how the Service is used: which pages are visited, how long sessions last and where errors happen. We use this to improve speed and usability. Wherever possible the information is aggregated and does not identify you.
Notice acceptance
These simply record that you have seen and accepted a notice, such as a cookie banner, so we do not keep showing it.
| Type | What it does | Essential? | Typical lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session / sign-in | Keeps you signed in and your session secure | Yes | Until you sign out or the session expires |
| Security | Fraud prevention and request verification | Yes | Session to 12 months |
| Functionality | Remembers preferences such as language | No | Up to 12 months |
| Analytics | Aggregated usage and performance measurement | No | Up to 24 months |
| Notice acceptance | Records that you dismissed a notice | No | Up to 12 months |
Session and persistent cookies
- Session cookies are temporary. They exist only while your browser is open and are deleted when you close it. We use them mainly for signing in.
- Persistent cookies stay on your device after you leave, until they expire or you delete them. We use them to remember preferences and recognise returning devices.
Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by services we use — for example an analytics provider, or a payment gateway during checkout. They may set cookies from their own domains, and those cookies are covered by their own privacy and cookie policies.
We do not allow third parties to use cookies set through DonePay to build advertising profiles about you, and we do not sell data that comes from cookies.
Other technologies
- Local storage — the web wallet keeps small amounts of data on your device so screens load faster.
- Web beacons — tiny transparent images in some emails and pages that tell us whether a message was opened or a page loaded. They help us measure how well our messages work and check that systems are working.
- Mobile identifiers — our apps may use identifiers provided by your phone’s operating system for security and diagnostics.
Managing cookies
You can accept, refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time:
- Google Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Microsoft Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions
- Mozilla Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari — Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Mobile browsers — look in the privacy section of your browser or device settings
You can also use your browser’s private or incognito mode, which throws cookies away when you close the window.
If you block cookies
Blocking essential cookies stops sign-in Without strictly necessary cookies you will not be able to sign in to DonePay Wallet or complete a payment, because we cannot keep a secure session.
Blocking functionality or analytics cookies is less disruptive: the Service still works, but it may not remember your preferences, and we will have less information to help us find and fix problems.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the technologies we use or the law change. The new version applies from the date it is published here, and the effective date at the top will change.
