The short version
- DonePay is a prepaid wallet and a technology platform. Operators, billers and licensed payment partners deliver the underlying services.
- Payments are processed exactly as you enter them, so check every detail before you confirm.
- Any fee is shown on the confirmation screen before you pay — never after.
- Keep your PIN and OTPs to yourself. Nobody from DonePay will ever ask for them.
About this agreement
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you (“you”, “user”) and DonePay Wallet (“DonePay”, “we”, “us”, “our”), the operator of the DonePay Wallet platform.
They apply whenever you visit donepaywallet.com, use the web wallet at app.donepaywallet.com, install one of our mobile apps or open an account. Our Privacy Policy, Refund & Cancellation Policy, Cookie Policy and Disclaimer form part of these Terms.
If you do not accept these Terms, please do not use the Service.
Words we use
- “Service” — the DonePay website, web wallet, mobile apps and every feature in them.
- “Wallet” — the prepaid balance held in your DonePay account and used to pay for services on the platform.
- “Operator” or “Biller” — a telecom company, DTH provider, electricity board, utility, toll-tag issuer or other provider whose service you can pay for through DonePay.
- “Payment Partner” — a bank, payment aggregator, payment gateway or other licensed entity that moves funds.
- “Transaction” — any recharge, bill payment, transfer, wallet top-up, refund or reversal made through the Service.
Who can use DonePay
To use the Service you must:
- be 18 or older and able to enter into a contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872;
- have a valid mobile number registered in India;
- not be barred from receiving the Service under any applicable law; and
- give accurate, complete and up-to-date information when you register.
If you use DonePay on behalf of a business, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that business to these Terms.
Not for minors DonePay is not meant for anyone under 18. If we find that an account belongs to a minor, we will suspend it and return any remaining balance to its source after verification.
Your account and security
Opening an account
You sign up with your mobile number, confirm it with a one-time password (OTP) and set a private transaction PIN. Your mobile number is the main identifier for your account.
Keeping it safe
You are responsible for everything done through your account. In particular, you agree to:
- keep your PIN, OTPs and login details confidential and never share them with anyone — including someone who says they work for DonePay;
- tell us straight away at support@donepaywallet.com if you think someone else has access to your account;
- keep your registered mobile number and email address up to date; and
- sign out on shared or public devices.
We are not responsible for losses caused by sharing your PIN or OTP, or by not keeping your credentials secure.
One account each
Each person may hold one DonePay account. Opening several accounts to exploit offers, cashback or referral schemes can lead to those benefits being withdrawn and the accounts being suspended.
Your wallet balance
- Your Wallet is a prepaid balance kept for your convenience. It is not a bank account and earns no interest.
- You can add money using the methods offered at checkout. It is credited once our Payment Partner confirms the payment.
- The balance can be used only for services available on the platform, within any limits we set or the law requires.
- Unless a transfer feature is specifically offered, the balance cannot be moved to another user’s wallet, and it cannot be exchanged for cash except as set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
- Cashback, promotional credit and rewards may expire, carry their own conditions and cannot be withdrawn as cash.
What you can pay for
Subject to availability, you can use DonePay for:
| Category | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Mobile | Prepaid recharges and postpaid bills on supported networks |
| DTH & cable | Recharges for supported direct-to-home and cable TV providers |
| Utilities | Electricity, water, piped gas, LPG booking, broadband and landline |
| FASTag | Top-ups for supported toll-tag issuers |
| Money transfer | Transfers to bank accounts or wallets through licensed partners |
| More to come | New categories may be added over time |
What is available depends on our Operators, Billers and Payment Partners. We may add, change, pause or withdraw any category at any time without notice.
Making payments
Check before you confirm
Mobile numbers, consumer numbers, subscriber IDs, account numbers, IFSC codes and amounts are processed exactly as you enter them. We cannot tell whether a number belongs to you or to the person you mean to pay, so please check every field on the confirmation screen.
Mistakes are usually final Once an Operator or the receiving bank has accepted a payment made to the wrong details, it generally cannot be reversed. We will help you try to recover it, but we cannot promise the outcome.
Payment status
We pass each Transaction to the relevant Operator, Biller or Payment Partner in real time. Some of them confirm later, so a Transaction may show as pending before it settles as successful or failed.
Records
Every Transaction is logged with a unique reference number, a timestamp and a status. Unless there is an obvious error, our records are conclusive evidence of the Transactions made through your account.
Limits
We may set per-transaction, daily or monthly limits on adding money, spending and transfers, and change them for risk, regulatory or operational reasons.
Fees and taxes
- Opening and keeping a DonePay account is free.
- Some services may carry a convenience fee, service charge or payment gateway charge. Any such charge is shown on the confirmation screen before you authorise the payment.
- Taxes, including Goods and Services Tax, apply where the law requires and are added unless we say otherwise.
- We may change our fees. New fees apply only to Transactions made after the change takes effect.
Charges made by your own bank, card issuer or mobile network in connection with a Transaction are your responsibility.
Verification (KYC)
Where the law, a regulator or our Payment Partners require it, we may ask you to complete Know Your Customer verification before you use certain features or go above certain limits. This can include submitting officially valid documents and completing verification checks.
Until verification is complete we may restrict or pause some features. You confirm that the documents and details you give us are genuine, accurate and your own.
Acceptable use
You must not use DonePay to:
- launder money, finance terrorism or commit any other financial crime;
- pay for anything that is prohibited under Indian law;
- pretend to be someone else, or use a payment method you are not authorised to use;
- abuse offers, cashback or referral schemes — including through automation, multiple accounts or collusion;
- try to get into the Service, other accounts or our systems without permission;
- introduce malware, overload the Service, scrape it, reverse-engineer or decompile it, or otherwise interfere with how it works or how secure it is; or
- resell, sub-license or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.
We may report suspected illegal activity to law enforcement and regulators and will co-operate with their investigations.
Third-party providers
DonePay is a technology platform. Telecom, DTH, electricity, fund settlement and the other underlying services are provided by Operators, Billers and licensed Payment Partners — not by us. This means that:
- we do not control, and are not responsible for, the quality, timing, availability or accuracy of a third party’s service;
- delays or failures caused by an Operator, Biller, bank, payment gateway or network outage are outside our control;
- disputes about the underlying service — a plan that did not activate, or a disputed electricity bill — must be raised with that provider, although we will give you the transaction evidence you need; and
- third-party names, trademarks and logos shown in the Service belong to their owners and only identify the services available.
Our content and brand
Everything in the Service — including the DonePay name and logo, software, source code, design, graphics, text, icons and the way they are arranged — is owned by or licensed to DonePay Wallet and protected by Indian and international intellectual property law.
We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the Service lawfully for yourself. You may not copy, modify, distribute, publish, create derivative works from or commercially exploit any part of it without our prior written permission.
Suspension and closure
By us
We may suspend, restrict or close your account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that:
- you have broken these Terms or the law;
- the account is being used fraudulently or for suspicious activity;
- a regulator, court, bank or Payment Partner requires us to; or
- continuing to provide the Service would put us or other users at risk.
By you
You can close your account at any time by writing to support@donepaywallet.com. Any remaining balance is handled under our Refund & Cancellation Policy, after verification and subject to legal retention requirements.
What carries on
Closing an account does not undo completed Transactions or amounts already owed. Clauses that by their nature should continue — including liability, indemnity, intellectual property and governing law — stay in force.
Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows:
- the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied;
- we do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of viruses or other harmful components;
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data, however it arises; and
- our total liability for any Transaction or claim is limited to the value of that Transaction or ₹10,000, whichever is lower.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for fraud.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DonePay Wallet and its directors, officers, employees, partners and agents against any claim, demand, loss, liability, penalty, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, a breach of these Terms, a breach of any law, or the infringement of anyone else’s rights.
Events beyond our control
We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by events outside our reasonable control — including natural disasters, epidemics, fire, flood, war, civil unrest, strikes, government action, changes in regulation, failure of telecom or banking networks, power cuts, internet outages and cyber attacks.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to our services, technology, practices or the law. The new version applies from the date it is published on this page, and the effective date at the top will change.
For significant changes we will try to tell you in advance — for example with a notice in the app or an email to your registered address. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at Kolkata, West Bengal.
Before starting any legal proceedings, please raise the matter through our Grievance Redressal process so that we have a fair chance to put it right.
